Truck stop apps: how to find stops, parking and fuel along your route

RUN THE NUMBERS
Trip Planner (fuel stops, breaks, parking windows)Most drivers have a folder of truck stop apps on their phone: one for the chain where they earn points, one that shows every stop on the map, maybe one for parking and one for scales. Used well, they answer the questions that decide your night before you are out of hours: where the next good stop is, whether it has parking, what diesel costs there and whether you can book a shower.
This guide sorts truck stop apps by what they do, explains what to look for in each kind, and shows what the main apps say about themselves on their own pages. We do not rank apps or earn anything from them. Facts come from each maker's own pages, with the date we checked.
The four kinds of truck stop apps
| Kind | What it does | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Chain apps | One chain's stores, rewards, shower and parking booking, fuel prices | Earning and spending rewards, booking a shower or a reserved spot |
| Multi-brand locators | Stops from many chains and independents on one map, with amenities, fuel and parking data | Finding the next stop on any route, comparing options |
| Parking apps and marketplaces | Reserved or paid parking at chains and private lots | Nights near hubs where free lots fill early |
| Scale and bypass apps | Weigh station locations, open or closed status, bypass signals | Planning around scales |
Most drivers settle on one chain app for the chain they fuel at most, plus one multi-brand locator for everything else. The other two kinds earn their place depending on how you run.
Chain truck stop apps
Every big chain has its own app. They show that chain's stores, but they are the only way to use its rewards, shower credits and reserved parking. From each chain's own pages:
| Chain | App | What the chain says it does |
|---|---|---|
| Love's | Love's Rewards app (formerly Love's Connect) | Shower check-in on site, fuel prices, mobile pump activation |
| Pilot Flying J | myRewards Plus | Reserve showers and parking, mobile fueling, points on commercial diesel |
| TA, Petro | earnify pro (replaced UltraONE and TruckSmart) | Rewards, locations, services, trip planning, fast booking of showers and parking |
| Sapp Bros. | Sapp Bros. app | Guest Rewards points, prizes and location finding |

What to check in a chain app: whether it shows the shower count and parking count for each store, how shower credits and reserved parking are booked, and how its rewards terms work. Our guide to truck stop showers covers each chain's shower credit rules, and our list of truck stop chains covers the chains themselves.
Multi-brand truck stop locators
A multi-brand app puts truck stops from many chains and independents on one map, which is what you want when you are somewhere new or your chain has nothing nearby. As one example, Trucker Path says its app offers a truck stop locator with amenities, real-time parking availability at truck stops and rest areas, fuel prices at more than 5,000 truck-ready locations, weigh station open or closed status updated by drivers, and truck routing with low-clearance alerts. Its paid tiers are priced on a separate page we did not verify.

What to check in a multi-brand app:
- Coverage. Does it show independents and smaller chains, not just the big names?
- Freshness. Fuel prices and parking data are only useful if they are recent. Look for timestamps.
- Filters. Can you filter by diesel lanes, parking, showers, scales, repair and food?
- Truck routing. If it routes, does it use your height, weight and length?
- Cost. What is free, and what needs a subscription?
Parking apps
Parking is the reason many drivers open a truck stop app at all. Two kinds of parking apps exist: the chains' own reserved parking, booked in their apps at prices set store by store, and marketplaces for private lots. Truck Parking Club, for example, books hourly, daily, weekly and monthly truck and trailer spaces at private lots, at prices each property owner sets.

Scale and bypass apps
Some truck stop apps show weigh stations and whether they are open. Bypass apps go further, telling you at participating scales whether to bypass or pull in. An app showing a scale as closed is not a bypass signal: if the roadside sign says open and you have no bypass signal, you pull in. Our guide to bypass weigh station apps explains how bypass works and who qualifies.
How to find truck stops along your route
Here is a simple way to use these apps together on a run:
- Set your route in a truck GPS or a truck routing app, with your height, weight and length.
- Work out your park-by time from your hours. The trip planner lays out a run day by day with fuel, breaks and a park-by time each night.
- Look along the route in a multi-brand locator for stops within reach of that time, not at the edge of it.
- Filter by what you need tonight: parking, showers, food, a scale.
- Open the chain app for the stop you pick, to check the store details, book a shower or a reserved spot, and use your rewards.
- Pick a backup earlier on the route.
- Check again mid-afternoon for parking reports before you commit.
Using apps to compare fuel prices
Fuel is the biggest cost you control at a truck stop, and price apps make the comparison quick. The gap between two stops on the same stretch of highway can be real money on a full fill.
Remember that posted prices can differ between cash and card, and between the pump price and a fleet or rewards discount. Our guide to truck stop fuel covers how pump prices, fuel cards and DEF work, and the trip fuel cost calculator prices a whole run.
Setting up your apps before a trip
A few minutes before you leave saves fumbling on the road:
- Sign in to each chain app, so fills earn rewards and you can book a shower or a reserved spot fast.
- Enter your truck profile in any app that routes: height, weight, length and hazmat.
- Save your favorite stops so they show first.
- Turn on only the alerts you want. Too many notifications become noise while you drive.
- Download offline maps where the app allows it, for stretches with weak signal.
- Check the subscription you are paying for, and cancel the ones you no longer use.
Location data and your privacy
Truck stop apps work by knowing where you are. That is how they show the nearest stop, check you in for a shower or send a bypass signal. Before you install one, read what it asks for. Many need location access only while the app is open; some ask to track location all the time, which drains the battery and shares more than you may want. Check the app's privacy page for what it collects and who it shares it with, and turn off permissions an app does not need. If your company or a load requires a tracking app, that is a separate arrangement from the truck stop apps you choose yourself.
A few cautions
- Real-time is a snapshot. A lot shown as open can fill by the time you arrive.
- Do not set routes while driving. Federal rules bar holding a phone while driving a truck; set the route before you roll, and use a mount.
- Watch your data and battery. Several apps running at once can drain both. Keep a charger in reach.
- Check the last mile. An app may show a stop as close, but the road to it still has to be truck legal.
- Signs win. Posted signs beat any app when they disagree.

When there is no truck stop nearby
Some nights there is no truck stop in reach. Public rest areas are the next stop for many drivers; our guide to the truck rest stop covers what they offer and their time limits. Drivers in a 26 ft box truck have a few more choices, such as motels that confirm they take trucks, which most apps will not show.
Apps, stops and the bigger picture
Our pillar guide to the truck stop covers what different stops offer, chains versus independents, and how to pick one on your clock. And if a stop you love got you thinking about the other side of the counter, the guide on how to start a truck stop business covers what it takes.
How a dispatcher helps
Apps tell you what is open right now. Where your day ends was decided when the load was booked. A good dispatcher plans delivery times and reloads around your clock and the stops you prefer, so you open the app to confirm a plan, not to search in a panic. At HaulStop we keep a list of your favorite stops and plan around them. We cannot reserve parking, and every load waits for your yes. The OTR dispatch page shows how a long run is planned, and the HaulStop home page covers the rest.
The short version
Truck stop apps come in four kinds: chain apps for rewards, showers and reserved parking; multi-brand locators for every stop on your route; parking apps and marketplaces; and scale and bypass apps. Run one chain app and one multi-brand app, check how fresh the data is, set routes before you drive, and always keep a backup stop. More guides are on the road guides page.

Questions drivers ask
What is the best truck stop app?
There is no single best one; it depends on what you need. A chain app is best for rewards, shower credits and reserved parking at that chain. A multi-brand locator is best for seeing every stop along your route, with parking and fuel data. Many drivers run one of each. Judge any app by the data it shows, how fresh it is and what it costs.
How do I find truck stops along my route?
Use a multi-brand truck stop locator or a truck GPS that shows stops along the route you have set, then filter by what you need: diesel, parking, showers or a scale. Check the chain's own app or store page for the stop you pick, and choose a backup earlier on the route in case the lot is full when you arrive.
Do truck stop apps show if parking is available?
Some do. Trucker Path says it shows truck stops and rest areas with available parking in real time, and the big chains show reserved parking you can book at their stores. Real-time availability is a snapshot, not a promise; a lot shown as open can fill by the time you arrive, so plan a backup.
Are truck stop apps free?
Most chain apps are free to download and use, since they exist to bring you to the chain's stores and its rewards program. Multi-brand apps often have a free version and paid tiers for extra features such as truck routing. Parking marketplaces charge for the space you book. Check each app's own pricing page before you subscribe.
