Car hauling dispatch that plans where the cars sleep
A loaded car hauler is a rolling showroom of someone else's property, and it has to park somewhere every night. Our car hauling dispatch desk books the loads, checks the pickup and delivery addresses for access, and plans each night around a stop that is safe, lit and legal for a rig your length. You approve every load before it is booked.
Open and enclosed. Three-car wedge, hotshot car hauler or seven-plus stinger. Same fee tiers as every truck we dispatch.
5% of gross for one truck, 4% for 2+, 7% while your MC is under 6 months. No haul, no pay.
What a car hauling trip nets after parking
Car hauling pays by the car, not by the mile, so the math works differently from a van load. A full trailer can pay well on a short run, and a half-empty one can lose money on a long one. Then there is parking: free spots exist, but paying for a secure, lit space on a trailer full of cars is a choice many haulers make.
Put in a trip you are looking at. The card shows the trip gross, our fee for your tier, the paid parking and what is left before fuel and your own costs.
TRIP AND STOP CALCULATOR · EXAMPLE DEFAULTS
| Trip gross (7 × $450) | $3,150 |
|---|---|
| Dispatch fee (5%) | −$158 |
| Paid parking (1 × $25) | −$25 |
| Trip net, before fuel and your costs | $2,968 |
$2.70 net per trip mile
The paid nights cost 0.8% of this trip's gross. On a trailer full of someone else's cars, a secure spot is often money well spent.
Two things stand out when you play with it. First, the number of cars matters more than almost anything else, which is why we work so hard to fill the trailer before you leave. Second, a paid night or two is a small share of a full load's gross, small enough that we would rather plan a secure lot than save the money and worry.

Parking a loaded car hauler
Length is the first problem. On the National Network, a stinger-steered auto transporter can be up to 75 ft overall, which is longer than a lot of truck spaces were drawn for. Security is the second. Here are the options we plan around, from most secure to least:

Reserved spaces at truck stops
Some chains sell reserved spaces at certain stores. Pilot Flying J store pages list public, prime and reserve parking separately, and TA offers Reserve-It! reserved parking at participating sites. Prices are set per store, so check before you book.
Secure paid lots
Fenced lots with a gate, cameras and lighting, run by independent operators. They cost more than a truck stop and are worth it with high-value units. Prices and rules are posted by each lot.
Dealer and auction lots
Sometimes the customer lets you stay inside their fence the night before an early delivery. We ask, and only plan it with a clear yes.
Busy, lit truck stops
A full, well-lit truck stop near the interstate is often fine for a night. Park where the lights and cameras reach, and pull through so the load stays in view.
Rest areas and quiet lots
Free, but lighting, space for a long rig and security vary a lot. We avoid planning a loaded car hauler into one when there is a better choice.

Wherever you stop, do the same few things: walk the load and check every strap and wheel net before you sleep, lock the cab, and photograph the load if anything looks off. If a car is damaged overnight, that photo and the condition report from pickup are what protect you.
Paid parking prices change by store and city. Our guide to what truck parking costs lists published prices, with the date we checked them.
Dealer drops and residential limits
Car hauling has a problem other freight rarely does: the delivery is often on a city street. Dealers sit in commercial strips, private customers live in neighborhoods, and many towns restrict trucks your length on residential streets or ban unloading in the road. We ask for the exact address of every stop, check for truck routes and local limits, and, when a stop cannot take your rig, arrange a nearby meeting point the customer agrees to before you accept.
Multi-stop loads need the order right, too. We plan the drops so you are not backtracking through traffic with a full trailer, and so the last stop is close to where you can park or reload.
What a car hauling dispatcher handles
- Filling the trailer: we look for loads that add cars to the same direction before you leave
- Per-car pay, total pay and the payment method, on every offer
- Pickup and delivery access, gate hours and contact names
- Running vehicles or not: inoperable units need a winch and take longer
- Condition reports at pickup and delivery, kept in your load file
- Where the night ends, with the rig and load in mind
Filling the trailer
An empty slot on a car hauler is money that never comes back. A seven-car trailer leaving with five units has given away two loads' worth of pay on the same fuel and the same miles. So most of our work on a car hauling trip happens before you roll: finding the extra units that run the same direction, from auctions, dealers, rental and fleet moves, and private customers through brokers.
We also plan the way home. A trailer that runs full one way and empty back has to earn the whole trip on the first leg. When we can, we line up units near your last drop before you get there, and tell you honestly when a market is thin so you can choose to wait for a load or head home empty.
Open or enclosed
Open trailers carry most cars on the road and fill fastest, because that is what dealers and auctions book. Enclosed trailers haul classic, exotic and high-value vehicles, usually fewer units at a much higher price per car, with stricter handling and more paperwork. We dispatch both. Tell us which you run, and if you run enclosed, the kinds of vehicles you are set up and insured for.
Car hauler dispatch service or booking direct?
Plenty of car haulers book their own loads from car hauling load boards and repeat dealer customers, and some do it very well. A dispatcher earns the fee when finding units eats your evenings, when your trailer leaves part-empty too often, or when payment chasing takes more time than it should. If you already run full and get paid on time, you may not need us, and we will tell you so.
To start, we need your trailer type and capacity, your cargo and liability limits, whether you take inoperable units, your home base and the lanes you like. It takes one call.

Car hauling dispatcher questions
Where should I park a loaded car hauler?
Somewhere secure, lit and long enough for your rig. Reserved spaces at truck stops, fenced paid lots and customer lots with permission are the safest choices. A busy, well-lit truck stop is often fine for one night. Avoid dark rest areas and quiet lots with high-value units, and always walk the load before you sleep.
Is reserved truck parking worth it?
Often, with a full load of cars. A reserved space costs a small share of a full trailer's gross and saves you from circling a full lot at night with someone else's vehicles on board. On a short, partly loaded trip with a safe free stop nearby, it may not be. The trip calculator above shows the share for your numbers.
Can a new MC haul cars?
Yes. Some brokers and dealers will not tender to a very new authority, and many want higher cargo coverage than general freight, so we check your policy first and start with those who will book you. A new MC pays 7% until month 6, then steps down automatically. The first weeks can be slower, and we say so.
What insurance does a car hauler need?
Federal rules set the minimum for liability: $750,000 for for-hire general freight in a vehicle over 10,001 lb. Cargo coverage is mostly set by the brokers, dealers and auctions you haul for, and car hauling often asks for higher limits than other freight. Tell us your limits so we only pitch loads your policy covers.
How are car hauling loads paid?
Usually per car, with the total on the rate con. Brokers pay on invoice once they have the signed bill of lading and condition reports. Some direct customers pay at delivery. Before you accept, we confirm how and when the load pays, so you know whether you are waiting on a check, a transfer or a factoring payment.
